Indie Tooling

Privacy

We keep what we collect to a minimum.

Last updated 8 October 2026

Indie Tooling is a static website run from Australia. It has no accounts, no forms, no comments and no advertising. We use Google Analytics to understand which stories people read. This page explains what that means in practice.

What we collect

We don’t ask you for personal information. To see which stories are useful, we use Google Analytics. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google details of your visit, such as the pages you view, how long you stay, the site that referred you, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. We look at that data in aggregate. We don’t use it to identify you, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Google processes this data under its ownprivacy policy, and you can readhow Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Opting out

You can block Google Analytics with your browser’s tracking protection or a content blocker, or install Google’s opt-out browser add-on. The site works the same either way. You can also clear the cookies at any time in your browser settings.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like most web hosts, Cloudflare may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We don’t add to those logs or use them to identify readers. Cloudflare’s own privacy policy covers how it handles that data.

Your theme setting

If you switch between the light and dark theme, the site saves your choice in your browser’s local storage so it can remember it next time. It stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere. You can clear it at any time by clearing the site’s data in your browser.

Fonts, images and scripts

Fonts, images and the site’s own scripts are served from this site. The only script loaded from another company is Google Analytics, described above.

Links and the RSS feed

Stories may link to other websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we don’t control. The RSS feed is a plain file served from this site, with no tracking added.

Changes

If what we collect changes, we’ll update this page and its date first.
